The police in Saxony-Anhalt have puzzled over the identity of a dead man for a year. The man's body was discovered last summer in a box in the Elbe. More than 260 references have been received since then, but there is no hot trace.
"We have often thought: now we have it," said spokesman Ralf Moritz. But despite the many references, the identity of the man had not been clear. Also the call among harvesters in the not very distant region of Brandenburg asparagus region Beelitz had brought no purposeful hints.
On July 5, 2016, a paddler had discovered the metal crate with the corpse. The investigators start from a crime. Numerous injuries indicate that the man was killed. He had an athletic stature, was about 75 pounds heavier and 1.80 meters tall.
Despite identification, no identification is possible
Several conspicuous features on the body of the dead led the investigators to start by quickly figuring out the identity of the man. But neither the name "Michaela" tattooed on the forearm, nor a gold ring at the Ringfinger with the same name brought the police on. "We have published many references - so far without success," said Moritz. It is only clear that the dead person is probably from South-East Europe.
