According to the constitutional protection report, the number of violent right-wing extremists and right-wing extremist violence in Germany is increasing.
In 2015 about 1400 right-wing extremist acts of violence were registered - 2016 a total of 1,600 acts of violence. In addition, constitutional protection for 2016 included 12,100 extremists - 300 more than in the previous year. The report also notes that the obstacle to the use of violence against strangers across the nation is declining.
The focus of right-wing extremists also increasingly attracted people, such as municipal decision-makers, but also other representatives of the state, "who are sometimes blamed for self-perceived grievances or the high number of asylum-seekers in Germany."
Left-wing extremism fell by 2.2 per cent
According to data on the politically motivated crime presented by Interior Ministers Thomas de Maiziere in April, the number of all offenses with a right-wing background increased by 2.6 per cent to 23,555, while left-wing acts fell by 2.2 per cent to 9389 cases.
According to the report, the left-wing extremist potential is no longer as high as 28,500 (plus seven percent) since 2012. The violence-oriented left-wing extremists are 8500 persons - an increase of more than ten percent. However, there were no events for the people in 2016.
"Looking at the G20 summit, the picture is likely to change," warns the report. On the occasion of the Bundestag election, "a rise in left-wingistically motivated criminal and violent acts against the political opponent and the police is to be expected".
