In the Swiss Alps, two bodies have been discovered which have probably been missing for more than 75 years. A woman recognized her parents with the missing.
The hikers were close together, as a picture showed on Tuesday. The black mountain boots stick out of the snow, the clothes are weathered, a glass bottle lies at their feet. A book and a clock were also found. The thick layer of ice preserved the corpses over the years.
The missing persons were found last week at more than 2600 meters of altitude in the Tsanfleuron glacier above Les Diablerets by an employee of a ski station. The Pistenbully driver initially thought that these were stones, according to Bernhard Tschannen, Managing Director of the area.
A trip without a return
A 79-year-old wants to have discovered her parents in the dead. "Mom and Dad will finally find their last rest," said the woman of the newspaper "Le Matin". She and her six siblings had been looking for a lifetime after the 40-year-old shoemaker and the 37-year-old teacher at the time of the disappearance. According to her, in 1942 her parents made an excursion to the Alps alone, of which they never returned. "They wanted to feed the cattle and be back the same evening," said the daughter.
The police flew the human remains from the border area between the cantons of Vaud, Bern and Valais. The bodies are now being examined in Lausanne. In 1926, a co-operation disappeared in the area.
